Omelette is prepared by cooking eggs with battered pan which are spread out like pancakes, and then pan-fried. In India, Omelettes are prepared to serve unexpected guests or when there is a shortage of time. It’s so easy to prepare. I’ve tried a variety of omelettes in various locations, such as the cheesy egg fluffy omelette, masala egg, vegetable omelette and so on. Today I will share how to make the traditional Indian style Omelette. It’s an old-fashioned method that’s been used for many years.
Another popular type of omelette that is popular in India is called the Masala Omelette. I have provided the recipe for that below. The omelettes can be served for breakfast by themselves or with toasty bread. They are also a great alternative to chapatti or rice.
Recipe For Indian Style Omelette
Preparation time : 5 minutes
Cooking time: 2 minutes
Serves – 2
Ingredients (for easy everyday omelette)
- Eggs – 2
- Onion 1 to six shallot onions (finely chopped)
- Green Chili – 1 (finely chopped)
- Salt to taste
Ingredients (for spicy masala Omelette)
- Eggs – 2
- Onion 1 to six shallot onions (finely chopped)
- Green Chili – 1 (finely chopped)
- Cilantro (Coriander Leaf) 1 Tbsp (finely chopped)
- Red Chili Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Cumin Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Pepper Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt To taste
- Vegetables 1/4 cup (finely chopped tomatoes and capsicums, carrots, capsicums, mushroom , etc.)
Method
- If you’d rather make the basic omelette or the spicy masala omelette whose recipe is exactly the same as in the recipe explained above.
- Break eggs in a bowl. Then mix in the remaining ingredients to it.
- Beat it thoroughly using an egg beater or fork beater.
- A skillet or fry pan on medium-low temperature. Add about 1-2 teaspoons of oil, and then slowly add the mixture of eggs.
- Make sure to spread the egg mixture into an arc shape. Spread the onion in a uniform manner.
- Allow it to cook for one minute on the side that you cook it on before flipping it.
- Cook the second side for around 30 seconds.
Serving Suggestions
- It is typically served as a breakfast item. It’s great with tomato green chutney or ketchup.
- It can also be served with toasty bread for a quick sandwich. These bread Omelettes are a very popular train station meals in India.
